Pack Activity
AH! Big day! Potema, Cicero, and Damien are going to be accepted as full adult members of the pack, and a big promotion for Akela! This pack activity is mandatory (for ranking and favor with Burke and Meldresi and to get 20 EXP). This activity backdated to last night, the night of the super blood moon, and is located at Nightcaller Temple (northeast BFW, in the center of Wispmother's Grotto.

@Burke @Akela @Nemesis @Cicero @Damien @Adelina @Cyn @Abelinda (I am not sure if @Lusa @Grimnir @Peridot @Chevalier @Baldur will be able to come because of IC reasons, but tagging you regardless).

The next round will begin October 5th. There is no posting order, simply participate in each round.

Tonight was an important night, a special night. For tonight, the moon was larger than ever, the mocking laughter of that ancient king supposedly louder than other nights, but Mephala blessed them. Tonight, she knew that a special shroud would be drawn across the moon. Not black, but red as blood, as red as the Dark Brotherhood's mark. The magic of the earth was strong tonight, she could practically taste it on her tongue, feel it enveloping her like a shroud. Special spells could be performed tonight that would be rendered useless in others.

That is why she lumbered north from her den, Burke at her side, supporting her growing weight, a large bundle in her jaws. They stepped into the mist filled Grotto, the land silent except for their splashing steps as she saw the rocky spires grow closer and closer into her vision. The land dipped gently into a small hollow, the grass below their feet dry, impaled randomly with rocks leaning in wild directions. She passed them without giving them a glance, her eyes focused on the tall rock cleaved in half by the gods, creating an offering table that seemed too perfect for her.

The rock glowed blue and green in tendrils, similar to the glow of Mephala's Web. She stopped in front of it, her eyes flickering up to the top of the spire, then the sky above. The moon was nearly above them now; the eclipse would begin soon. She had to act in earnest.

The priestess unraveled her bundle, setting the stage for several events that would come to pass in this blood-stained night. She placed a few objects onto the table: a bone gnawed to a point, damp moss, chervile root, goosegrass, marigold, then stashed the rest away. That would be for later.

With her preparations complete, the heavily pregnant Queen, only a week away from giving birth, tipped her head back and let a sonorous howl exit her lips, calling her pack together for a special occasion. A night they would all remember.

Burke knew about Meldresi's plans she had for her spiderlings becoming adults, and he really liked it. What did worried him a bit was that Meldresi was heavily pregnant. He had shielded her off from most of the pack since he might be a bit over protective of his mate. He just didn't want anything to happen to hear. Akela's story hadn't been helping with his mind, his friend had told him that in private and he wouldn't mention this to him ever. But he wouldn't want the same to happen to Meldresi. After Ayana's betrayal he had been patrolling but most of all watching over Meldresi. To think that their spy branch might have spies made him on edge.

The large male walked with her, being rather perfect inside for support. He wasn't sure if it were her movement or the movement of their babies that he felt against his side. Still it pleased him. He looked around and made sure to take the most easy route so Meldresi didn't need to struggle too much. He knew she had her mind on something else and just a silly thing a tripping could make a change in their numbers. Once arrived he watched her get ready, not entirely sure what ritual she was going to preform but he would support her either way. The male lifted his head and howled with her. He felt a thrill going through his body, their howl together sounded so strong and powerful. United.

Burke would have nothing rather than to have Meldresi by his side as Alpha female, though he knew with the pups coming up that she couldn't deal with talking to strangers at the borders or be social with members, making sure the welfare of the pack was good. She also had to do thinks for the brotherhood after all, being the only Priestess. Burke lowered his muzzle and nudged her for a moment with his nose, happy to have her next to him. She was still the only piece that ever fitted next to him.

Time itself seemed to stop as one of the most divine and amazing things unfolded before the wolfess. A moon, that would turn red as the blood of her enemies would hang in the sky on this fine night and the female had never been more captivated by anything in her life. Any thoughts she previously had perished into oblivion as the woman gazed at the night sky. The stars that could once captured her attention for hours now became blurry specs, long forgotten about it a time like this. Such beauty for so little time.

Suddenly the wolfess sucked in a deep breath at the sound of a howl, and her ears twitched with irritation at the noise interrupting her peaceful night. A gathering was about to take place, and Adelina slowly picked herself up glancing on last time up at the moon before sprinting off to find the leading couple. After a short run to where the Alpha male and his mate stood, the female bowed to them both before standing a few feet from Meldresi. She waited for the rest of her pack-mates to appear from the darkness so she could join them on this blessed night.

Akela has been more patrolling than outriding or even hunting after Burke filled him on the rest of the story with Ayana. He understood his Alpha's concerns, as he had promised, he would have done anything for him and his family, even give his own life. Word had it that something unique would happen on that very night. Akela had only heard stories about the blood moon, it was so rare it happened every very vew couple of cycles. He never personally had witnessed one, nor did he know how other wolves knew about it. Maybe it was the priestess thing. Connected to the gods, the beyond and the magic. Maybe he was not connected enough to this to actually understand how one could predict something like this.

He had been resting when he heard the howl. Guess the ceremony would begin. He made his way to where it came from. Upon arriving, he saw Burke and Meldresi , they had prepared something around them.  Curious he looked at it for a moment before joining Adelina, standing next to her to wait for the rest of the pack and see what this was going to head to. He had an idea but Burke and him had not really talked about it, both only crossing each other more than actually spending time together.

Nemesis stared in awe at the blood coloured moon, a sure sign that the universe had not given up on her and her journey that was most definitely covered in the blood of those that needed to be silenced. Silence, it was such a wonderful thing, that in this time when her eyes stood transfixed on the rarity of the night should all malevolent thoughts be halted in their awakening. But silence was meant to be broken, so it only came naturally when a call rang out. A summoning of the pack on this peculiar night. Her ears reached it's peak as she instantly traveled to meet the call.
Where she was guided, she had not been before. The heart of the grotto, a whimsical place. As the moonlight shone down on her, she found herself awakened by the night. And so was her packmates, it seemed as she strongly caught their scent mixed in with all the other's she had not smelt before. She could tell, this was a night of new beginnings for some, a monumental point in the pack's history. It was her gratitude she would be here to witness whatever Burke had planned this special night.

Nearing the rest, she found the figure of a newcomer, Adelina it seemed, Along with Burke himself and the Dark Queen, Meldresi. Looking further she found Akela, who she had found quite decent despite her unruly attitude towards him when he joined. She gave a nod at both, and another, a bit deeper at Burke and Meldresi. She took her spot, standing beside Akela as she waited for the rest.

Things were uncertain for the eldest of Meldresi's children. He had lost a chance to put an end to a threat to his family back when Grimnir escaped from his claws, and the future brought even more unease to the Assassin aspirant. His mother, he'd found upon his return, was days away from bringing even more pups to the world, which meant more lives to protect. And Grimnir was still out there.

Mother had been clear on what the night would hold for the pack. This moon, unlike any other Damien had ever seen, would be stained in blood, the same kind under which he and his siblings had been concieved. But that wasn't all. The moon of blood was a blessed night alone, And tonight, added to the eclipse the moon would also shine brighter than ever before, as it's proximity to earth would make it almost twice as big as usual.

Damien knew mother had something prepared for the special night, and so he'd kept a close distance from her and Burke. He followed from up close when they moved towards the sacred temple, and once there, he'd positioned himself next to his parents to give a somber welcome at the rest of the pack.

As his mother prepared her herbs, Damien took a moment to observe the glow of the oddly shaped rock that would serve them as scenery for the night. He wondered whether it was the same thing that made the sky glow at night, but he believed when his mother said those were the souls of the lucky bastards that somehow escaped the claws of the dark brotherhood at some point.

In the shadows, where he belonged, Remained Damien as he watched the wolves that, one by one, joined the ceremony. But he wouldn't say a word until he was required to. He just watched from the darkness, as always.

Cyn had found her way to the owner of the chilling howl in the moonlit night. She sat down without saying a word. She had changed her wrapping so it would move when she moved. It was easier to walk around Blackfeather Woods that way. Her face was in a blank state, but her eyes showed seriousness and hints of sorrow and jelousy. She tried to cheer up and it almost worked.

Her legs ached from walking around aimlessly for the past few days. She had more muscle to show for it. Her agility got much better and she found out she had more endurance too. She hadn't eaten well either only barely getting enough to last her throughout the day. Her fur had become more puffy tonight and almost made her look like a dandelion.

She chuckled and realized how depressing she must have seemed and her spirits had been lifted.

Cicero was never far from Damien's side, even now that the storm was over and they no longer had a child to care for together. Grimnir and Lusa were gone, and life in Blackfeather Woods could continue as it should. Cicero felt that he had failed by not gauging Grimnir's response to the spores right. It had been so different from his own when he had ingested them. Even after he had come to he had been weak. Perhaps he had underestimated the power of adrenaline. Cicero did not let it get to him much, instead trying to deduce what had gone wrong so he could adapt next time.

Beside his brother Cicero waited while Meldresi and Burke awaited the rest of the pack. In the shadows that ge belonged in, for his soul was dark and blackened, even if Cicero wished it were different. He found solace in his brother's presence, and so Cicero waited beside Damien. Even if tonight was in part about them, it did not bring Cicero much joy. Very little did, these days.

Her brothers' return was bittersweet for her. It seemed that while they were gone, they had grown closer together while the gap between them and her and lengthened and deepened. It frustrated her. She wanted them to be together, the trio they were born as, as they were meant to be.

When her mother called for the pack, she responded with a jolt excitement, pushing the yearning aside. Tonight was the night! The blood moon that her mother spoke of time and time again was here. She, like her mother, felt the magic in the air tonight, pulsing around her. She ran towards her mother's call, eager to see the spells she would weave in front of the pack, to hear the chants, to see the magic work right in front of her eyes.

Potema arrived at the temple, being one of the last to arrive, but it was fashionable, in her mind. The princess strode over to her mother and father, placing herself on the other side of her brother Damien, not as close as she wanted to be, but close enough to satisfy her. She, like Cicero, found solace in his presence. He was the largest, the strongest, their protector. And she wanted to be close to him, especially after being away for so long.

@Burke @Akela @Damien @Cicero @Adelina @Cyn @Nemesis

Second round begins now! This round ends October 12th. Post at least once but you are free to post as much as you want (provided you don't spam) in each round. There is no posting order.

Meldresi waited patiently at her mate's side, shifting her weight as her, their children moved inside. They were lively, these ones. Even more so then her first litter. They were not as harsh, however, their kicks light but quick. She could tolerate their batterings much more. The priestess suspected that it was Damien who was guilty for all of the hard kicks to her heart, but she could not know for certain.

Slowly the wolves filed in. A gray and black female, one she had not met, her neck surrounded by an unnatural blackness, arrived first. She had not met this wolf personally, but the time for meet and greets would come later. After her came Akela, followed by Nemesis who sat beside him. To her delight, she saw her sons coming towards her, Damien arriving first, sitting close to her and Burke, Cicero coming not soon after to sit by his brother. Cyn arrived in-between them, scrawny and limping. Meldresi frowned. Why hadn't she seen this sooner? Had no one informed her about this? She looked towards Burke, hoping to catch his eyes, gesturing nondescriptly towards Cyn. She had many questions that she would have to save for later, on top of a wolf to attend to.

Finally, her daughter arrived, settling in comfortably among her brothers. With the pack gathered, Meldresi stood. She looked at the gathered crowd, making sure she met their eyes at least once, before she spoke. "Tonight is a special night," She began, though that was already obvious to so many of them who were here. "Tonight the moon is ever closer than before and a shroud of red will be brought across the sky by Mephala herself. Tonight, we have many people to celebrate." She looked across the gathered wolves once more, then settled her eyes on Akela. "Akela, step forward."

Burke watched everyone arrive. All he had seen in recent time so that pleased him. He definitely caught the glance of Meldresi when Cyn arrived. He had been talking with her, but didn't see the need to call for Meldresi as a healer since he didn't want her too move. The girl seemed to have taken care of herself pretty well with bounding her wound. Maybe he would signal to Potema or Cicero to look at her more closely. Burke watched their members, the relaxation sagged in his muscles because there was no Grimnir to ruin their pack meetings. Burke was definitely going to try and hunt that wolf down. He would pay what he did to Potema.

Burke turned to look at Meldresi when she talked. She was the priestess and knew far more about all of this compared to him. He let her talk. When Akela was called to the front Burke had a bit of a grin on his face because his good friend would be rewarded for his hard work. They needed a Beta especially with the pups so close. It would be nice to have Akela help out with running the pack, along with it he got the status of a upper ranked wolf. He wanted to make a raunchy comment but refrained himself since this meeting seemed rather official.

Only when Meldresi called forth Akela did Cicero notice him. The dark handsome stranger that he had met during his exile with Damien and Baldur, when he had gone out to explore one time. Such fate that he would end up in Blackfeather Woods. Cicero wondered if their fates had been destined to intertwine, or if it was just a stroke of luck. Who knew whether destiny existed or not.

Cicero watched him as he stepped forth, and stayed close to Damien's side. The affair with Baldur and Grimnir had bonded the brothers further, and Cicero relished each moment spent by his brother's side even more than before now. In silence he waited from the shadows for what further fate had in store for Akela.

Akela while being in the pack had not seen all of the wolves. He never caught a glance at Grimnir , not that he truly wanted to, and had only met one of Meldresi's children. He greeted every member who came into sight , Cyn, Nemesis, Poterma joined a male he did not know, and finally, a familiar face came to sight. Cicero. Huh, the odds did seem to have plans for them to meet twice. He gave the younger male what could be associated to a wink and kept quiet for now.

When called, he lifted his head and walked forward, to stand in front of Meldresi and Burke.  " Please don't tell me this is about making our threesome official love. " he commented, addressing Meldresi. Formal or not, he just couldn't keep his mouth shut, even in an important meeting like this.

Nemesis watched silently as Meldresi's children arrived, the one's she had not met yet and Potema. Under the light of the moon, she could see the resemblance of them to their mother, but the very different coloured pelts that covered them. She had come to the conclusion long ago that Meldresi's children were not Burke's biologically, but yet he was their father, something that she had always envied of others. Yet, now was not the time nor place to feel such irrelevant emotions, only one's of serious joy, for this was a night to be remembered, if she was correct in her assumptions.

As the priestess called out for Akela, she watched silently as he went forward, letting out some comment she did not hear. Her eyes and thoughts were directed to the moon, as Meldresi had said, a Red veil brought by Mephala herself.
suddenly, her thought's regained focus as she noted the glances passed between Burke and Meldresi, but she pushed it away, it was not any of her business what they exchanged. Yet, she could not help glancing at Cyn, how looked particularly.. depressed, much like their previous encounter. She wondered in concern if the girl was well, in the mind as well. She was fully aware of how the mind could change them, make them sick in the end. And she was no exception.

But she looked away from the girl, almost sinking into the shadow of the night as she waited to see what fate had laid out for Akela this haunting night.

@Adelina @Damien @Cyn Make sure you post by tomorrow night!

Potema sat proudly by her mother as the gathering began. It was a small gathering of wolves, as the pack had shrunk following the flood, but she knew everyone's faces and felt a strong tie to most of them. Especially her mother. She exonerated the priestess, especially seeing her now, in her element. She had more control over the mysteries of the world than Potema herself did, it was natural that she respect her.

She knew that today, her brothers and her would be marked, but the first portion of the gathering was not reserved for them, strangely. Instead, Meldresi focused her attention on Akela, the old loner friend of Burke's. Potema cocked an eyebrow (especially at his reaction to the event; did they really have some sort of relationship?) but kept silent, wondering what her mother had under her (metaphorical) sleeves.

Cyn watched silently at the others. A smirk almost found its way to her face, but the seriousness continued. Her head seemed to find its way upwards while her eyes looked at the moon. She could see red start to appear on it.Blood, that's what blood looks like. Wonderful crimson beauty. She shook her head trying to not think about it and payed more attention to what was happening. It was fairly silent for a beautiful night like this.

Third round begins now! This round ends October 19th. Same rules apply!

Meldresi kept her face stoic, though internally she smiled at the male's joke. She wouldn't be up to any of that kind of activity for a few months, though she would secretly keep an eye on Burke. Who knows what he could get up to with Akela if their teasing was more than just teasing.

She had no marks to give him, unlike her children, but she wanted to declare this in front of everyone, so that they would know and make no mistake when he imposed his authority. "Burke and I have agreed," She began, looking right at him. "That you have proven yourself worthy of the title of Beta of the pack." She looked about, wondering how some of them felt about this promotion. It was not a huge leap from his current position, but he would undertake a huge amount of responsibility and respect that would be the envy of some. "We hope that you will accept this honor graciously and rise to the upper tier of the pack to serve with Burke as his right-hand man." This was merely a formality. Why wouldn't he accept this?

Burke could already hear the jokes when Meldresi talked about Akela serving him as his right hand. The male had a grin on his lips though, because Akela deserved all the credit needed. He was a good wolf and a good member of the pack. He was always active and had his way with information. He could almost seen Akela decline it since it would make him officially settle even more. Though, he did promise to stay around.

Burke nodded in agreement with his mate, oblivious to her suspicion of something that might never happen. He would always stay with Meldresi. They didn't only mate for love but also to grow old together. Even if she died Burke didn't see himself settle down again.

Cicero wondered as Meldresi spoke of her and Burke deciding upon Akela's promotion why it was that his mother did not rise to the position of Alpha, as she deserved; as was only natural and logical. Was it her upcoming children that were in the way of that? Cicero nodded to Akela as he was promoted to Beta, before he turned to look upon his mother.

"Mother." Cicero took a step forward, drawing himself partially from the shadows to look respectfully  upon his mother. "When will mother take up the mantle of Alpha again? It is a position she already fulfils, after all, all but officially." Cicero meant to reference the fact she was leading this meeting, that she and Burke had decided upon Akela's new rank. She was Alpha Female in all but title, and Cicero wanted to see that righted.

With a somber glare Damien waited for the meeting to develop under the still bright glow of the moon. For several minutes Damien stared at it, being slowly consumed by the devious hands of the spider goddess. It was an impressive sight, and it truly felt like Mephala was there. So cold. So dark.

For a moment, the silence was perpetual, but Meldresi broke it when the last of the pack members joined the meeting. She explained the reasons behing the reunion, and called one of the new members forward. Damien's cold and pale eyes fixed on his face, savaged just like his. He wasn't expecting the male to speak, but the words that escaped his lips didn't please him at all. A growl started rumbling in his throat, how dare he speak of his parents like that? There was no right, nor was it the moment. But the growl was never released, and Meldresi proceded with the appointment.

It was surprising. A male that had been a member of the pack no longer than the time it took Damien and Cicero to work up their plan was being named Beta, when it took Burke no less than half of Damien's life to get he same position. Akela had a great deal to prove to Damien yet, and he wouldn't acknowledge his new title. That was not his to take. It belonged to Damien, and he would take it one day.

Cicero stepped forward with a question that had been lingering around Damien's thoughts for way too long. There were many more then, but as that specific one emerged it spiked Damien's interest. His mother, the dark queen of Blackfeather Woods, was supposed to be Burke's right hand and vice versa. Not Akela, whoever he might be. Damien wanted to hear the answer to the question, and all his senses focused on his mother for the moment.

Akela had figured this was about him becoming a beta.  He was almost tempted to say no, but then again, it seemed only  him and Meldresi got the hint of humor , because one son was growling and looking like it was raining on his parade and the other did not give a damn about him and would step on his moment by asking his question.  For now, Akela looked between Burke and Meldredi then nodded.  "It will be my great pleasure to be your beta, to assist you in any means, and serve this pack to my best. " he replied and took a bow in front of the couple. It was not something that happened very often as he considered himself equal to others ( lone wolf habbit).  He looked back up and cocked up a brow when  Cicero spoke. Well now, that was rude as hell.  He could at least wait until he was done with this.

Since pragmatic words had been spoken, he took place next to Burke , as new member of the upper tier.

Her brothers didn't understand why Akela was chosen. Of course they wouldn't; they were gone while he was here. They wouldn't understand all that he did for the pack despite being a lowly middle-tier wolf. How he hunted for them, protected them, spied for Burke. She did not share their sentiments, and made that perfectly clear by smiling wanly in approval of the older male's promotion.

Potema looked towards her brothers, especially Cicero, when they parted from the shadows and Cicero spoke, ruining the momentum of the meeting. Potema frowned, wondering why they could not see, understand, why Mother had stepped down. A part of her wanted to snap at them for their indignance, but she waited in silence, wondering what her mother would say.

@Damien @Burke @Cicero @Cyn @Akela @Nemesis

Rounds are going to be shortened to four days to speed this up. Next round will end Friday, October 23rd

Meldresi thought that this promotion would be an easy thing to do. That the promotion would be rejoiced and they would move on. But her children, specifically Cicero, decided to interrupt the ceremony with a question. A question that she thought they would know the answer to. She looked at her son, then to his brother Damien before speaking. "When this new litter is a moon old, then I will resume my duties." She said, announcing her intentions not only to her children, but to the pack itself.

"But now for the second task at hand." She looked about the gathered wolves, pausing briefly for dramatic effect before speaking again. "Three of our children have become adults; the first born in the pack. And, under the light of the blood moon, I am going to honor their lives spent in these Woods with a mark of Mephala." Meldresi walked over to the altar, grabbing a clump of wet moss and the bone, gnawed to a sharp point. It was a tradition that she had modified from her own home pack, the permanent scarring - tattooing, given to the wolves who had stayed in the Brotherhood for the longest, a mark of Mephala, so that all, even the Gods, knew who they belonged to. She did not see why her own children should not receive the mark as well. "Damien, come here." She called to her eldest son; she would go from eldest to youngest, placing the mark on their right shoulder, opposite to where their Dark Brotherhood mark would lie soon enough.

An explanation was given, though Cicero could not sense whether Meldresi was upset for his question and interruption or not. He did not really care if anyone thought poorly of him for his opinion and thoughts, or if they thought his question misplaced or mistimed. It needed to be asked, and everyone knew that. And so Cicero had stepped forward. He was not entirely satisfied, for it was evident from this meeting alone that Meldresi was their leader — and so why wait with dubbing her such? — but resigned to her answer with a nod.

Damien was called forth after Akela had been crowned Beta, first to be initiated and welcomed into adulthood by Meldresi. Cicero arched his neck to lick the side of Damien's face encouragingly, waiting for his brother to step forward and proceed with the ceremony.

Burke raised his head and nodded. "Congrats," he spoke to Akela. He was very pleased with this progression. Everything was going so well. He had his friend. He had a great mate with at the point of delivering their pups. Burke was a proud wolf. He had things to be proud of, also on his pack mates. Now they got rid of grimnir he had a lot of members to be pleased with.

Then Meldresi was questions, disturbing his moment of proudness. He turned to his mate because he would be nothing rather than to have his mate by his side officially. He knew the pregnancy had been unfortunate on her, leading was not an option. Not yet after all. Though, some might be confused with the fact that she is still the head of the brotherhood. She was still a leader but not that visibly. She quickly carried on. Burke looked at his son proudly, even if Damien had a little outburst towards him. Burke was proud of his son. All of them really.
