The tide fell, and a land bridge rose up from the sea. His hunch was correct; when he had first eyed the island he thought it too inaccessible to be worth taking for a ship, but it dawned on him later as a sudden realization, that perhaps the sea had concealed a proper plank. He had noted how the waves broke different along a narrow stretch leading out from the island, but he had overlooked it then.

Ferahgo arrrr'ed! loudly. Here was his ship. He knew it. He made a cursory pass onto the island just to confirm it, and then he went back to swab and fetched his crew as he had promised to do. He lead them to shores, across the plank, and onto the sands of their ship.

"Yo ho, me buckoes! Here be a fine ship for a fine crew. To the Bonechewers!"

He lifted his sandy snout as one might toast a glass, and the howled a rough and hollerin' shanty, christening the ship.

the countess too, raised her muzzle and sang a short and poignant song to the christening of their ship. she had not yet grown accustomed to the captain's wording, but was becoming used to his roughness all the same. and he had brought her a gift, even though he had said he would not.

when the mingled voices of the crew died away, the cold-eyed female shot a pointed glance toward ferahgo; he had held up his proverbial end of the bargain, and now so must she. perhaps with pleasure, given the rugged savagery of his features.

when she had caught his eye, the woman gave a small, wicked smile and turned away, moving with deliberate steps toward the more darkened areas of the ship, where perhaps a salted swain might accost a fair and willing maiden in the gloom.

The swab had spent his days on the beach, gathering together whatever dead animals and cracked, disappointing shells he could find for the galley and coffers. He had held up his end of the bargain with Ferahgo and showed each of the crew to the grave in the bay, where they had each claimed a bone or two for themselves, their share of the booty. The dead viking king of Stavanger, a name the swabby did not know for the bay, was now less than half a skeleton, and it would be Blurryface's duty to carry the rest of the treasure from the bay to the ship.

He was a third across the plank, which was beginning to sink once more below the waves, when Ferahgo's shanty seemed to erupt from the island. His keen coywolf ears could pick it up easily and the manic rat laughed, a bone-chilling cackle, and cried into the wind, "AYE, ME HEARTIES, WE BE WEIGHIN' ANCHOR SMARTLY." His howl clawed into the air, half yipped and half called, as he skipped across the plank and returned to the grave to pull three more bones free and ferry them back across to the isle.

Wednesday had come, bloodied and face ruined, but still very much so alive. Short an ear and with an even gristlier looking face than ever, she came unto the scene and lifted her tail high to boast her claim among the women. Her eyes fell upon the one that lingered there and sang with them, and Wednesday was struck by her loveliness. There was no envy, but the hard edge of desire gleaming in her eye, and annoyance as a glance was snuck their captains way. Wednesday herself howled once more, the sound likely a nightmare to their neighbors if they heard it, and though she felt a lovely sort of pleasure at being the thing ones parents warned them of her expression was as stoic as it ever was. And when her song died, Wednesday went to find this woman and discover every bit that she could.

Though she had not come away with a child that day, there were more cursed days to try again.

Sadie awaited patiently with her crew members as the captain left in search for a fine ship for the crew. The woman didn't say anything to the others, no she was silent for once instead of yapping it up. However, her attention was returned when she heard a loud arrrr.

The Captain had returned to his crew as he promised before and his news was enlightening. The scraggly woman felt her tail wag in excitement as his words dripped from his mouth like the sweet rum. They had found a ship to hoist the pack upon! The captain lifted his muzzle towards the sky, singing in a gruff voice a shanty to show his excitement.

Sadie did the same, her song wasn't as horrible was it could be. Her song was short-lived though, she ended it and gave a crooked smile to everyone 'round her. Her dark and light fur bristled in the cold wind, she pricked her ears forward towards the captain.

"Cap'n! Do ye think we can go 'n have a look at the ship?" She asked curiously, the heart in her chest was beating like a drum. She wanted to see the ship, what it was like and what could be hidden in it. Some treasure would be nice, finding shiny items was a specialty of hers!
Now we are ready to head for the Horn,
Way, ay, roll an' go!
Our boots an' clothes boys are all in the pawn,
Timmrollickin' randy dandy O!

Roach too had seen the island standing off of the coast at least once; it's reveal had left it standing stock still in stormy seas beneath a veil of fading fog.  He hadn't given it much thought, perhaps too far out to worry after swimming in the wintry season.  He stayed to the beach in the time that had passed, finagling his way through what it was that he was expected to do.

Which, when the Captain had decided that he wanted that island for himself, they had willingly followed him across the sandbar and to what Roach had thought a distant shore.  It was only then when they had been rallied for that adventure that he gained a proper assessment of this crew, and found that Ferahgo had found followers of all sorts in truth.  Their mismatched bodies and sizes, even temperments appealed to him, though they were hardly acquainted.

And together as one as they raised their proverbial glasses in a victorious toast, even he could not resist the urge to join in himself.  Be it in the wolfish blood that coursed his veins, but he desired enough to belong to participate.  His was a strange call but not unlike those that had graced the Wilds before him; it rested somewhere halfway between the deeper tones of a wolf and yet the higher range of a coyote.

As their song tapered off, he heard the commotion of Blurryface as he broke free from them to set off and gather trinkets, and that of another already inquiring if they were free to break away; Roach's gaze flitted between the golden lass and that of the dark-scruffed leader curiously.

Sorry for crap post, :p
Goliath had been sleeping deeply by the time the 'Captain' had returned, and woke up to his calling. Confused and tired, he directed his gaze to the other members, and from the reactions of the others, 'Blackbeard' was baring seemingly good news.

He trotted down towards the where the unruly bunch were huddled, and tried to understand what was happening. They had begun to walk on the sandbar, and Goliath (in his dreary state) followed in pursuit. The deposits of fat and muscle around his legs made the problem of the temperature of the water minor, yet it was the salt that was a nuisance.

As they came onto land, saltwater seeping into his mass of fur. He shook off any remaining water, and continued. They stopped on the banks of sand, and he realized how most of the wolves spoke in that weird dialect that the Captain had. He decided it would be a better idea to be quiet, and instead, sat and listened.

One by one, they began to howl. A unruly song of different melodies and voices, but inspiring anyway. He stopped admiring, and began to howl himself. A deep, but still scruffy voice joined in, his thoughts blown away and replaced with the excitement that came from the calling.
For those who don't know, Goliath's thread titles are bible passages, since his name, (note, not the entire being) is indeed based off the religous character

They all joined him, and the ship was christened thoroughly. His own toast became a raucous laugh in his merriment. "Arr, me hearties!" He belted. "See to the ship now! Let's rig 'er up proper. Galley! Bunks! Coffers!" He swept his muzzle toward the interior of the island, dismissing the assemblage to tend to duty. Then his bone-colored eyes, hungry as they were, fell to the fair white crewwolf. He licked his lips, but Whitey, whose brutish physique could make any man go soft, was a cock-blocker as well it seemed, for she followed after the one the Captain fancied. His expression became hard, irate, but it dissipated quickly into a grim smile as he went his own way.
