Spring just decided to roll with it and go with Ishi’s plan, by blaming the Mountain for her stumble, knowing that neither of them would let the other blame themselves.  As Ishi called up at the Mountain, silly mountain, she instinctively glanced up.  As if she expected the mountain to let loose a landslide, but nothing happened so then she just refocused on climbing up.  She noticed that the pair were extremely close to the top now and that made her heart race with excitement.  They were almost there!  So close!

“We’re almost their Ishi.”  Spring whispered informatively and excitedly to her friend.  “Almost to the top of this Mountain!”  She tail gave a low enthusiastic wag behind her.  She had never felt so excited in her life.  The urge for accomplishment of the trek gave her courage to move forward, up the mountain.  She felt a slight chill in her pelt.  Strange... they were closer to the sun that warmed their pelts but it was... colder?

Time flies when you're having fun, and the pair had already done a whole lot of chatting, laughing, plus a mini adventure with a dangerous stumble. And so the mountaintop loomed... though it wasn't all that tall. These were quite low mountains, but that meant the view would be all the more beautiful, with no clouds to interrupt it.

Okay, let's not look back at the view until we're right at the top, he suggested resolutely, pushing himself onwards and upwards.

Wow, it was gorgeous at there current mark.  Especially that beautiful clear, deep blue sky.  It was all just... wow.  She agreed with Ishi’s plan to not look at the most likely wondrous, beautiful view until they were on the top of the smaller mountain.

A few minutes flew by and soon Spring found herself ready to step onto the very top of the mountain.  Focusing hard now, she took one more step up and all she could udder was a simple, amazed:  “Wow.”  There was nothing she could really say or think much more of.  This view was just... amazing.  She could see everything!  Or at least it seemed like everything.

They paced onwards, silent for a while but for the tread of their paws and the panting of their breath, and then — there it was. Both at the same time, the friends looked across the valley. Oh wow, we can see way more than I thought we would! he exclaimed breathlessly, committing the beautiful view to memory. Look, there's Lost Creek Hollow! he raised a white paw at the dimmed and distant trees. Can you see it?

As Spring laid eyes on Lost Creek Hollow, excitement raced through her pelt.  It was wondrous!  Beautiful!  “It’s gorgeous Ishi!”  She exclaimed in bewilderment and excitement.  She was so very happy at this moment.  Her golden/brown eyes surveyed the area searching for her home, the Maplewood.

As Spring laid eyes on Phoenix Maplewood her expressions brighten.  She never knew the Maplewood could be so... beautiful.  Of course Phoenix Maplewood was already beyond gorgeous in Spring’s opinion, but from this view it was just... perfect.  Beyond perfection.  She could see the tall Maplewood, tiny from the view stretching their limbs up, skyward.  Like greedy hands grabbing for a piece of delicious chocolate.  She saw a small figure of the pond that she had gone to with Apollo, it’s ice sheet now gone, overpowered by the warmth of the sun’s rays of heat.  Now the pond was sparkling, glimmering, shinning, beautiful.  It was just beyond compare...

“Look Ishi!  There’s Phoenix Maplewood!”  Spring yipped excitedly, motioning with her muzzle towards the canopy of Maplewood's stretching high and tall, tail wagging hard with high levels of excitement.  She loved it here.  She could see anything!  Well... almost anything.

For once in his rather chatty life, Ishi was speechless. It wasn't because the view was so breath-taking that it had literally taken his breath away, it was just because he was so happy right now and felt no desire to talk, but simply to enjoy it. Standing in the sunlight with a good friend, the whole world laid out like a blanket before them. He was soaking up the geography like any good Scout should, and nodding to Spring as he caught his first glimpse of Phoenix Maplewood.

He gave a great, contented sigh, and lay down on his front to relax and admire the rolling spectacle.

Spring was now speechless too.  All she could do was stare, watch and look at the landscape.  Her heart quickened when she recognized the Jade Fern Grove.  She smiled and it’s sight and almost chuffed a laugh remembering how she had meet Ishi there.  How he had gotten all stuck in the bushes and she had to help him get out.  She remembered his fluffy white pelt shinning out in the fern, like a glowing orb in darkness.  She enjoyed her friends company, he felt very important to her.  But still a slight ache for his safety etched in her, about one of Ishi’s lifelong dreams.  Cougars.  She just hoped he never met one.  They could do so much damage, she knew that all too well.

I actually think this is a pretty nice place to fade out~ What do you reckon? :)

Had they been something other than friends, this might have been romantic. But it was better than that. They were adventurers! And as Ishi gazed out across the landscape, having explored the looming mountain with Spring, he felt in a moment of mature clarity that he'd found a friend he would keep forever.
