It's hard enough to find it, we won't simply give it away, he said firmly. His pack had worked hard to ensure they had enough food to survive, and the Alpha would be damned if he simply gave it to a rude, ungrateful heathen as the one before him. 

The females to either side of him had attempted to be nice to these loners, and so far had gotten nothing but insulting comebacks in return. One more brash comment, and Steady would see himself and his family back to Easthollow, ensuring the pair did not follow.
