Their once-Captive had been promoted to Speaker upon the runaways return.

Such a thing made no sense to her. It was not that Kotake thought herself worthy of such a title—in fact, she knew she wasn't—but that this green-eyed woman was not. How long had she been a captive among them? And then she had run away with another captive in tow. This they had all permitted, in truth. Kotake because she could not stand to see the subservient wretch or tolerate the wailings of Titmouse, and as for the others, who knew? But to return and be congratulated for her transgressions? All without earning her place, all without knowing of what made them what they were?

Kotake found herself disappointed.

Who could she trust? Vaati had shown himself to be rash, but never had she expected this from him.

The Tyro found herself meandering through the woods, indirectly heading toward the path of @Potema.

It had not come as a surprise to her that Vaati had taken power. It was all he had ever wanted in his life. It was only a matter of time. But his second had. The former captive made tyro then escapee and now Speaker. He had once tiraded at her about trusting outsiders, how new blood would destroy the pack. And look at what happened.

She pulls away from the den she shared with @Kjalarr, her only respite in the crumbling world that had once been her home. She cannot sleep, even with his presence calming her. Her mind only thinks, flashes of sight coming to her with a new ferocity that frightened her. They had not been coherent yet, but the imagery was enough to keep her heart pounding in her chest and her lungs wildly searching for air.

The chill is juxtaposed against the heady warmth of the den, and she shudders briefly before beginning to walk. She watches her breath in the air, hanging in a soft white cloud before evaporating. In that time she had not paid attention to surroundings, as she was wont to do, so focused did she get in even the most menial of tasks. A black furred figure appears in her sight and she slows, looking at the eyes and recognizing her immediately. Kotake, She greets her daughter with her name, unsure of what else to say to her.
