Things had been....interesting. Although she missed her brother and sister - at least as much as she could, given she didn't have too many memories cemented yet - she had mama and that was all she needed. It was interesting here, with the lulling sounds of the ocean all around them and only the occasional cry of gulls overhead. To Yakone, it was all new, all exciting, all worth paying attention to. Most of all she spent her time curled tight with her mother, nestled in the soft of her fur and enraptured in their own sort of conversations. Words rarely were spoken, and that pretty black wolf she hadn't heard either, but still the pale little girl listened closely to what was said without needing a single sound.

Today, she looked up at @Reigi from her place tucked against her mother's breast, offering a sweet babies' smile. Her mother had sighed, that feeling had stirred her. She reached up with a heavy, wide paw, already too big for her body to pat her mother's chest gently before her mirky-blue eyes turned out towards the world beyond their own and then back to her mother. "Mama?" Quiet almost as her mother was, Yakone relaxed in her mother's embrace and just was

Even if it seemed as if the entire world was against her, at least she had her baby.  She had worried for some time that they would be like their mother — slow on the uptake, incapable of speech.  Inadequate.

But patience had won out, and her child had begun to speak even as the wounded raven had reverted back to speechlessness.  She sat sphynxlike with one arm on each side of the girl with the proverbial bleeding heart, having entire conversations without words until she looked up and babbled.

Reigi, of course, was so proud.  She tucked her head over her growing daughter and growled deep in her throat so she could feel the vibrations.

When her mother bestowed that look on her, Yakone knew what it meant. Well, she didn't have a word for it exactly, but it invoked quite the feeling in her. So far it was perhaps one of the strongest ones she'd had. She wanted more of that - more of making Reigi pleased, more of making her proud, more of comforting one another through these heart to heart sessions. Konnie giggled as Reigi's growl tickled her and twisted onto her tummy to lick and kiss at her mother's chin. "Mama!" She called her again, absolutely reveling in the glow of her mother's love.

She reached up to press her paw directly against Reigi's nose. For a moment she blinked in surprise - there was a different feeling there. Mama's nose was different than her fur and the ground and the question was posed in silence 'what does this mean?'

For all that she missed, her time with Yakone always made up for it.  Her baby gummed her chin and bapped her nose and she couldn't help but be enchanted.  Something twisted in her gut that she should've gotten to experience this with all of her children, but it was easily pushed away when she looked into her daughter's eyes.

Perfection.

That's what Konnie was.  The new mother pressed the cold of her nose against the warm of the toddler's underside and breathed in that sweet puppy smell.
