if she was looking for an explanation, she would find none. at least, not any feasible one. the beast would watch as the woman approached, half-grumbling to himself and a half giving off a warning growl not to come closer. it was an odd sound without a raised lip. a form of a whine without reason. his chest rumbled at her presence, vibrating against the cool earth. some part of him was excited - but it quickly faded in the presence of the stranger. she was an unknown. she could chase him away. she could hurt and cut and bleed him dry.

but he wouldn't make it that easy on the woman.

the beast would lift his head, piss colored eyes staring openly at her. his mouth opened several times, trying to form words. his tongue felt fat as always when he tried to speak. useless. "mmmm" he'd rumble at last, tilting his head slightly. frustration welled up and a flash of anger settled in his brain before disappearing. he was used to this. and it was not her fault. "gu... gu-oin?" he offered, looking a bit surprised he was able to even say such a thing. as if that was good enough, he'd rise from the earth to stand. looking expectingly at her.
