in anu's language the word for butt-holes was quite dissimilar; had he known the reason for that sneaky smirk, he would have stood straight and marched indignantly away. he was no ass, and he would not suffer the company of one.

at the very least, he would have pointed out the pronunciation phonetically was imperatively different: but that was the function of a hawk, to be insufferably sentimental to splitting hairs. (in case you were wondering, it was "ah-new", like sinew, but more palatable.)
