Steph was curled up near her mother's den, in one of the few moments of sleep she allowed herself. But, it wasn't long at all before one eye opened, and the next followed. For a few moments, Steph just looked around, her body unmoving. Then, she took a deep breath, and raised it into a stretch, her jaw opening wide in a yawn.
Her attention went to the entrance of the den where her younger siblings resided. All was quiet at the moment, but Steph did not move to leave. She worried about them, and her mother. Did they feel safe? Protected? After the attack, it was hard to imagine they did. But, Steph was doing her best to make sure they did. So, for the time being, she simply sat there, listening to the surroundings, on guard in case anyone not invited came by.
