Whether or not Eleuthera went to get the "queen", Kincaid remained where he was, keeping the cat within his sight. He'd never had a real conversation with one before, and he was surprised this one wanted to have one with so many of them right then and there. He'd seen them move before; he had no doubt that it could've fled and left them in the dust, had it really wanted to get away.

The male took a step forward just to attract the cat's attention.

"I beg your pardon," he said, but his tone was not that of one begging someone's pardon at all, "But with all due respect, what is it you want?" Here again, his tone suggested he was rather dubious about the amount of respect a treed cat could be afforded, but he was doing his best to play nice and get them closer to being rid of the interloper.
