Fallstag gripped the yearling's thick, heavy hackles in his jaws, but with any creature, there was little he could to do inflict damage that might hinder him from making another move. He might injure Osiris' shoulder muscles a bit with such a bite, but it wasn't the same as drawing a large amount of blood, or injuring one of his bucking legs. If he could do something like that, it'd slow down the vigour of his opponent who seemed to have become so much more dangerous now that his ire had been fuelled. 

He couldn't hang on- with each buck, he felt the strain on his jaws and eventually he let go- and dropped, snapping at the front legs the male had planted- but at the last second, the shale beneath one of his own front feet gave away, and he fell heavily to one shoulder.
