The howl went up and FitzDutiful was quick to respond. He had been patrolling again when he call was made. Without hesitation he ran toward his alpha, careful not to run full whack. This was a marathon, not a sprint, and he was going to need all the energy he could conserve.

Running in behind Peregrine, FitzDutiful let out a quick, but quiet yip. He didn't want to startle the herd any more than they were already. Let them wear themselves out until there were more pack members here to hear their call. Keeping his eye on the elk in front he didn't bother calculating which was the best one to go for. In this situation FitzDutiful was very aware that there were others that knew more than he did. He would allow them to take the lead and wait for instructions, or instinct, to take over.
