Contentment for many was a blessing.  It was what some strove for in their lives - to just be happy and to live quietly with their loved ones until they grew old and their bodies returned to the earth in their sleep.

For Finley Blackthorn, contentment felt far more like a plague.  Not all the time, of course.  Sometimes, she truly reveled in it.  After living a life in so much turmoil (both intentionally and accidentally created), it was nice to feel at home, at ease, at peace.  It was good to not have to shoulder the burden of worry or regret, and to not constantly be worried for her own survival.  But, on the other hand... God damn it was boring as hell.

There had always been some lingering part of her that felt as though the quiet life she'd settled into was somehow lacking in spite of how perfect it all seemed on the surface.  Lately that part had grown into an untameable beast that seemed to be the shadow that followed her every step.  Fin knew the mood well - every once in a while it would expand within her until she was consumed by it.  Usually, it ended in some completely foolish, dangerous and just plain idiotic act on the Blackthorn's part.  Try as she might to expel the demon through typical means (i.e. hunting all the animals, going for super long runs, or kerflomping with Elwood more feverishly and frequently than ever before), the restless had grown into her very bones where it would sit stubbornly until she finally burst.

The beta strode irritably through the tangled woods to the South of the Caldera.  The trees were growing such pretty little green buds and shoots of grass and brush were peeking up out of the dead roughage that covered the forest floor.  Fin wanted to set it all aflame.  For a while, she had entertained herself by trying to come up with a fancy name for the forest.  Winterlight had struck a chord with her for it always seemed to hold such an ethereal, almost frosty glow during the day.  In her current moody state however, she dubbed it Bitchwoods.

Heaving a sigh, Fin finally settled down in a comfy bed of foliage (that in her mind felt like she was laying on a billion needles, but everything sucks so whatever) and began to take her frustration out on a rib bone she'd found on an old abandoned kill during her grumpy travels.

Spring was driving him wild. For Cara, especially. But he was experiencing that dangerous affliction, that infected all men at this time of year.

Spring fever.

The Gamma of Ouroboros Spine paced through the woods, attempting to ride himself of all of the desires that was starting to burn through his body. He could not stand to stay in the Spine for long; her scent was everywhere, dammit all. And she was growing closer to her second year. Once that day came, her heat would too, and he had no idea how he could handle himself.

The Gamma sighed, blowing out all of the hot air that was kept tight in his system. She was too young for him. Three years his younger, and not even sexually mature. What was wrong with him?

He did not have to mull over his potential pedophilic tendencies for long, for he was distracted from the sounds of bones crunching. Was a kill nearby? The dark wolf strode towards the sound, feeling another kind of hunger control his body, a more primeval one. But to his disappointment, it was only a female. That wasn't Cara. Dammit. "You're one of those Caldera wolves aren't you?" He snorted, catching a whiff of her smell.

Fin growled softly as she gnawed on the bone.  It was decently therapuetic getting to vent her frustrations out on it, even if she wasn't completely clear on what she was even upset about.  The beta tore a splinter off the rib and began to chew on it (cause rib bones are basically just sticks of string cheese, right?) when the sound of approaching paws caught her attention.  Fin dug her teeth hard into the bone and tensed as she shifted to face the stranger, her hackles prickling as she gave him a wary glare.

She relaxed slightly when the black wraith spoke to her for hist tone lacked any belligerence.  Instead, she fixed him with a curious stare as he mentioned that she was one of those 'Caldera wolves'.  She set her own senses to work then to learn more about him, quickly realizing that she too recognized his pack's scent.  "Oh and you're one of those Spine wolves," Fin retorted irritably, giving him a frown, "Is there something wrong with the Caldera?"

This female was not friendly. In the slightest. When he approached, her hackles had raised defensively, her teeth baring. Even after she relaxed, her glance was wary. She seemed to take offense to his words, frowning, retorting with a "so you're one of those.." herself. "There's nothing wrong with the Caldera pack." Except, maybe you, lady. He said to himself. He had no yearning for a fight today.

"Is there a kill nearby, or is that from something old?" He asked, though he thought she would not give him that information. Maybe that was why she was so touchy.

Fin was quite aware that she wasn't being very friendly.  In truth, she was fully aware that she could relax around this stranger - even if he was indeed strange - but she sort of... didn't want to.  There was so much restlessness boiling in her blood that it actually felt good to be a bitch at him.  He may not have deserved it, but damn did Fin need it.

She scoffed at his question as though it was foolish and absurd to wonder if there was fresh meat somewhere nearby.  She rolled her eyes in an exagerrated fashion before turning her gaze back at him with a roll of her head onto her shoulder.  "It's from something old, okay?  I'm not a freakin' genie," she snapped, even though it.. well, it didn't make any sense.  She harumphed irritably and turned away, only to snap her attention back to the male a few seconds later to ask, "How's Cara?"  Despite her sour mood, she had very much liked the Spine's female alpha and couldn't help but be curious about her well-being.

Kaname had had enough with this bitchy female. Whatever her problem, she could at least be decent with strangers, especially when he was a wolf from a rival pack. He narrowed his icy eyes at the female, then scoffed just as she had to him. He didn't have to waste his time on her. He was about to pivot with his paws, ready to turn and go back to Ouroboros Spine.

Until she mentioned his mate. Then his attention reverted back to the angry woman, despite himself. "She's been fine." He grunted. "I don't think she ever told you about me, it seems. I'm her mate."

Fin would have been completely satisfied with seeing his dark form disappear into the woods, were it not for the fact that he shortly announced himself to be the mate of her friend, Cara.  Though Fin had been determined not to care about him, she shot him a piercing glance when he told her of his relation to the female.  Her mate?  Seriously?  He was like... older.  And.. sexy...  A discontented growl rumbled from her throat as she shifted her weight needlessly.

"Oh I heard about you," Fin quipped back, probably completely overstepping all boundaries, "So you're the baby daddy, eh?  I hope you're up to the challenge."  It was a comment that was so.. inappropriate.  But Fin didn't really give a crap.  Truth of the matter was that sex was great and all, but his dick better be up to making it worth Cara's while.  Otherwise she was really wasting her time on this dude.

He studied her reaction with a strange interest. It wasn't friendly in the slightest, something that he was growing accustomed to with this female. He could not imagine her being friendly with anyone, let alone Cara. When she growled in light of his declaration, the dark wolf wondered if she was jealous at all. Now that was an amusing thought.

Strangely enough, even to him, he barked a laugh at her vulgar comment. Baby daddy. He had not thought of himself like that before. He was, wasn't he? He was only King Consort; he would never claim the throne for himself. He was a sperm donor in all but name. "I'm more than up to it." He smiled with a leer. "I have the privilege of being her first, and I'll make sure she'll go to no one else." He returned with a obscene comment of his own. He would never talk to Cara in that way, but it was his secret hope, being a man and all.

Fin smirked at his response.  It was such a man thing to say, bragging about how awesome they were at the intercoursing and how they left such an impression on all the vaginas they'd ever encountered.  What was up with that?  It wasn't like she had sex with someone and felt that she'd truly changed their lives forever with her --

"Her first?" Fin barked suddenly, "You haven't hit that yet?  Like.. Not at all?"  She quirked a brow as she stared at him.  I mean, sure the girl wasn't quite matured enough to be able to bear any children, but that didn't mean she wasn't DTB just for funsies.

making some assumptions or pp or something; hope that's ok!

He stole through the brush, catching the last words of the conversation between the two wolves before the darker male bid a farewell and left. He had been drawn by the faintest scent of meat and bone, and was disappointed to see it was not but a rib bone, a mere snack and not the easy meal he had sought. But he was here, and he was keen to capitalize on the smallest of opportunities. He sprung from his cover and darted in, snatching the bone off the ground and quickly retreating back to cover. He ran, and did not look back. But his ears twisted to listen behind him, should the gray female have been provoked to chase.

Finley pouted as her companion replied to her question with a sultry grin and then a view of his backside as he walked away.  She was actually feeling quite in the mood for some sex talk, particularly because she had a man back home that she could immediately go run and get some action from.  He didn't need to know that it had been inspired by someone else...

But, it was too late for that now.  Fin licked her lips and went to turn back to the bone she'd been gnawing on, just in time to see a figure dart out from the shrubbery and steal it away.  Finley was so astounded that she didn't even think about moving until it was far too late.  With a irritable snort, she got to her feet and stormed off in the opposite direction.  Now not only did she need to have sex, but she needed to have angry sex.  Just great.  She kicked up her heels and sprang off towards the Caldera to take out her frustration on Elwood's privates.
