Average in size, but not in appearance. Covered in feathers ranging from charcoal to a deep coffee colour, Keyx is a barn owl who easily stands out against his peers. The near obsidian colouration touches every inch of his body, leaving not even a trace of light to be seen. Upon his breast there lies a smear of oak, though it does not present itself alone. Throughout the soft feathers lies a tickling of the night’s essence, resembling pebbles among sand. The heart of his face is visible, just barely made out by the shift in hues. One might imagine his face to appear lighter, as is the case for most barn owls, but for him it is quite the opposite. His face is darkened, instead, the charcoal of his body becoming a deeper shade of onyx. Some sepia-coated feathers managed to weasel their way upon his face, however, being the only thing on his body capable of passing as light.
His eyes, often wide and observant of his surroundings, resemble two perfectly carved pieces of obsidian. The moonlight reflects off of them like it would the surface of a lake, but without the underlying traces of muck that can occasionally be found. They complement him well, working in harmony with his feminine physique to bring an overall softness to his features. Time and time again he’s been mistaken for belonging to the opposite gender, but never does he let it show that it bothers him.

Keyx possess what is known as 'melanism', the opposite of albinism, which resulted in his dark colouration.

When one thinks of an owl, the first thing that comes to mind is this wise and whimsical creature—or, in other words, not Keyx. He is not stupid, quite the opposite actually, but few view him as a being of pure intellect. He is an artist in every way, turning ordinary things into something worth taking a second look at. He is well-mannered, not one to go off causing mayhem for no reason. At times, he can come off as being a bit overbearing, but never does he mean any harm with his words.
