Born to Adonis Nero and Juliet Saturnin, she was born second to Virgil in a four pup litter. The other two passed away soon after birth to natural causes. Though she and her brother were her parent's first children, her childhood was remarkably free of any upheaval or major disagreements. She grew up under the watchful eyes of the pack, with a group of friends her own age to live and learn with. Her father was quite protective and oftentimes prevented the pups from exploring the pack lands without an adult to guide them. It offered her plenty of opportunity to learn how to be a pack wolf, but barred her from learning how to fend for herself without someone at her back until much later in life.

Shortly after her 2nd birthday, Juniper was courted by a rogue wolf named Haggarde. Foolish, inexperienced, and drunk on love, she accepted his advances and became pregnant with his litter. Haggarde revealed soon before her due date that he'd always dreamed of taking a mate, and starting a pack of his own. Starstruck by the ideas planted in her head, she told her father who cautioned her to wait until her children were grown before leaving; the pack could support her and her litter, but it was dangerous beyond the borders.

Begrudgingly, she stayed until the pups were born but tragically only one of them lived through the birth; a little boy. She mourned with her lover but took to the little boy immediately, naming him Gareth. A month passes and Haggarde grows increasingly dissatisfied with his low position in the ranks, and begins to pressure Juniper to leave with him and make their own future. Juniper, concerned for Gareth's health, explains her stance and pleads with Haggarde to be patient until their child is able to fend for himself.

Angered, Haggarde leaves the den in a huff and Juniper goes to her father for advice. He explains that perhaps it would be best if the two ended their relationship, over concerns that Haggarde seems only to think for himself. He leaves Juniper to think on it. When she returns to the den later that night, her son is missing and there are signs of a struggle. Virgil appears moments later, bleeding from multiple superficial wounds, and quickly explains that he caught Haggarde trying to sneak away with Gareth. The two fought, resulting in injuries for both, and with Haggarde's capture.

Enraged by his betrayal, she goes to where the pack has him cornered and confronts him. He accuses Juniper of being a prisoner to her father's wishes, and that Gareth deserves to be raised where he can live the life of a true wolf. She retorts with her father's words, calling the rogue selfish and out for his own gain. Haggarde lashes out and catches her flank between his teeth; Adonis appears and quickly overwhelms the male, giving him one last chance to owe up to his actions, to which Haggarde spits it back at him.

Adonis, along with the pack, chase him out of the territory. He does not return again.

Juniper spends the rest of her son's childhood giving him the best she can under the circumstances, while healing from both the physical and mental scars. It is taxing on her, and eventually she realizes it would be best to leave and find herself once Gareth is old enough to contribute. Just before his first birthday, she explains this to him, and the two share a tearful farewell. Adonis is the last one to see her off, and he warns her one last time of the hateful nature of the world. She kisses him and leaves without another word.
