Siku was born to his coyote mother, Prairie Wind, somewhere in Alaska. There isn't much he remembers about his early life, but the one thing that does stick out is that it was the longest he's ever stayed in one place in his life. Once he was old enough to walk Prairie Wind kept them moving and they never stayed in the same place for more than a couple days, sometimes they traveled several miles and sometimes it was only 1 or 2 but they were almost always on the move. Siku never enjoyed a close relationship with his mother, she never mistreated him but there was always a coldness between mother and son and Siku suspected it had something to do with his father.

A few months after Siku was born his half-sister, Willow, was born and she seemed to bridge whatever gap that there had been between their mother and Siku. For a time Siku was the happiest he had ever been, he was busy traveling but it was to help provide for his new sister and he enjoyed having the responsibility and someone new to play with. It would be a short-lived happiness. Once Willow was old enough to walk they all began to relocate and things were normal for a few days. While they were traveling through a prairie they suddenly found themselves surrounded by flames. It happened so suddenly that none of them had much time to think and they all just bolted, it was one of the most terrifying moments of Siku's life. The smoke and sparks kept visibility extremely low and Siku was effectively running blind, Siku tripped and rolled into tall grass consumed in flames which caused burns on his back and flanks. Luckily he had rolled under an embankment at the edge of a small pond that kept the fire from killing him while he lay unconscious from pain and smoke inhalation.

It was a few hours later that his mother found him and told him they had lost Willow in the fire, it almost killed Siku right then, but his mother urged him on. They continued to travel, but the rift between had grown even deeper and wider than it had been before Willow until, when Siku had become a year old, his mother chased him away and he was alone.

Not much of importance happened to Siku during this time, he mostly traveled and tried to keep from dying. He did a fair bit of wandering before finally arriving in the Teekon Wilds at the age of 2 years and finally decided he should join a pack to keep from dying through the winter. Siku can sometimes still feel the flames in his scars that he tries to soothe by rolling around in mud or anything that will take his mind off the sensation of burning.
