Siggy's life has thus far run a rather typical course: she was born at the tail end of a rather vicious famine, and was lucky to be born alive at all. Her parents had abandoned their old pack in an attempt to range far and wide to find enough prey to keep their pups alive. There were originally five young in the litter, but within the first two months that number had dwindled to two: Siggy, and her younger sister Aslaug. Her parents did not spend much time mourning the loss of the weaker pups. Her mother devoured their bodies out of necessity, using the nourishment from the weakest of the brood to sustain the surviving whelps.

Once the famine broke, the family was able to settle along the north-western slopes of the Rocky Mountains, not far from the edges of the Teekon Wilds. The little pack of four remained there for over two years, until Siggy's parents departed to the North to find their former brethren, and Sigfrid and Aslaug went their separate ways in an attempt to forge their own paths.
