It'd been over a week since the first cubs of Whitebark had entered the world, and they'd each changed a great deal in the days between then and now. Winter, having grown much larger thanks to the free-for-all milk bar that'd been available almost 24/7, was beginning to lighten considerably in recent days.
His top half remained dark, a dull and downy charcoal. He, of course, remained blissfully unaware of all the physical differences in him that'd occured over the past week. Winter was happy to carry on with his easy life that consisted almost entirely if snoozing, but for the time being he was awake and bundled close to the smallest of his siblings: @Frost.
He smelled of warmth and familiarity but, most notably, of mother's milk. Winter attempted to poke his blunt little snout to his brother's face and sniffed deeply, giving some thought to tasting him as he searched and prodded with his nose.

Frost was still too young to be aware of much in those early days. The world was a dark place full of restlessly squirming surroundings, warmth and cold, full tummies and empty tummies. If there was one thing he was beginning to realize, if only somewhere in his subconscious, it was that he was small. He was not usually the one who crawled over the others, nor did he really move around too much on his own really. He was the one being crawled over and shoved aside, so he already was learning to just stay small, stay quiet, and stay unobtrusive. These were things he was perfectly content with because, not being aware of much outside of that, he wasn't aware that it was really any different for the other beastlings around him.
Another thing the littlest pup was learning was how to be opportunistic. When all four of them were awake and hungry, he found it difficult to get to the front of the line to order a drink. So, he waited. None of them seemed super capable of staying awake for more than a few minutes at a time, so he rarely had to wait too long. He was learning to time his own sleeping patterns to be opposite of the rest, and so he was happily snuggling on down for his turn to nap with a face smeared with milk when the sibling he'd snuggled on up to decided to wake up and change the routine.
To this, Frost gave an indignant little grunt. It was his naptime now. Usually, he just curled and and dropped right off. Sure, the others shuffled and bobbed around him and it wasn't particularly relaxing, but he was used to that. He was not used to his face space being invaded so directly. But, being the budding pacifist he was, his retaliation efforts extended only to the unhappy grumbles. Otherwise, he simply tried to scoot about in a half circle and tuck his face away from his brother to avoid any further invasions.
