It was poor weather that drove Dacio and his sister further inland, for the biting cold of a seemingly never-ending Spring rainfall soaked them through. They spent several days in an unfamiliar forest, one that differed entirely from Drageda's proud sequoias but provided enough shelter to be comfortable. There, the duo dried off and found prey to be bountiful, so made use of a golden opportunity to fill their bellies before beginning the next leg of their journey.
The territory had proven to be a good place to rest, and was close enough to the sea which served as Dacio's fondest reminder of home. Every night spent there, when he and @Opalia awaited sleep's embrace, he could've swore that he was able to hear waves lapping against the shore - though he was sorely aware that it could be the sound of his own longing.
"We should think about covering some more ground," the sterling youth suggested that morning as he finished up preening a tuft of unruly fur behind his sibling's golden lobe with careful teeth. "The bleeding trees are cool, but... it's too quiet here. You ready to move on?"

of course! and congrats!!
With every new sunrise that pulled its light over the horizon, their lives on the cliffs faded into the backdrop and together they cut themselves a routine that went down the coast, exploring and scouring the lands for anything of usefulness. Eventually the weather urged them inland, however, and while not what she wanted as far as their course and momentum was concerned, she had adapted and been able to overcome her uneasiness swiftly with Dacio at her side as they settled into the bleeding woods for a brief reprieve. In this relative lack of motion, some of her sorrow for what was no longer threatened to catch up. It all felt painfully strange, especially at first, but with a few decent meals and good rests behind them, she was no worse for the wear and this was going to be how it was now--at least until they met their goals. Sometimes she did still need to remind herself of this fact because at the end of it all, she couldn't return to hougeda's comfort or thread through their familiar redwoods with their dad any longer. Now it was just the two of them, no more, no less, facing the wilds head-on. Yet.. for now, it was exactly what she needed.
Nonetheless, she was slow to rouse from a dreamless, dark sleep this morning, but coming around by now. She tilted back her head, and leaned softly against the last traces of his touch behind her ear. First, she mumbled something that didn't form an answer, and willed the sleep off better as she processed her brother's words.
Yeah.. I think so,she answered, then stopped to yawn and shift herself up straighter.
If the weather's going to cooperate, we really should take advantage of it,she went on to agree in greater detail.
I wonder if we're getting any closer, she said, still contemplating actually getting up, but not doing it yet.
Beyond the looming peak of Silvertip (where she had helped Aure find stones once) reaching for the skies, she had no idea what the wilds were even made of past here.
