Backdated one day (early evening, May 5th).
Malrok's paws took him toward the mountains, and he paused at the bottom of this one. He had crested enough mountains to know that this one would not be easy, if it could be done at all. Even a quick glance allowed him that much knowledge. The sides were steep, the loose rocks a sign of easy crumbling, and the sharp edges a risk to anybody who tried to conquer it. No, he would not be attempting such a thing today (or ever, if he was smart).
Instead, the wolf merely admired the mountain, smiling upon it like one might smile upon a well-bred attack dog. Pleased, but knowing not to trust it. The sun would be setting soon, and the Tartok wolf thought this would be a decent place to wait out the night.
lace padded along the foot of the mountain, bloody eyes darting towards the peak in helpless admiration and respect. she hadn't the most experience scaling mountains, but she had learned enough in her time exploring this range to know that she had no chance of climbing this one. the slopes were steep and the earth questionably loose.
it wasn't long before she became aware that she was not alone at the mountain's base. a sizeable white wolf shared the space she trekked. the shadowy female assumed a neutral posture, bordering upon submissive. strangers were not always trustworthy and she did not want to appear threatening, lest she provoke some kind of confrontation. a soft chuff escaped her, along with a gentle hello.

The sun continued its descent, and Kaertok began seeking out a good spot to "make camp" for the night. Another wolf came into view, and he likely would have ignored her entirely, except that she took notice of him and engaged with a greeting. He nodded politely in her direction. There wasn't anything that would have made her stick out in a crowd, but that certainly wasn't a bad thing.
You looking for a spot to settle for the night?he asked. If so, he didn't want to impose. He still had enough energy that he could put some distance between her so that he didn't come across as a threat.

his courteous nod shooed away most of her uncertainty. she would remain cautious, of course; lace was cautious regardless of any situation she you found herself in. but the pale man's demeanor put her at ease, more so at least than she had felt beforehand.
to answer his question, the brunette nodded. yes, but fell silent, her lips slightly parted, unsure of what to say. eventually she chose to mirror the question, and see where that might lead them. a-are you? her dark ears perking slightly.

The Tartok wolf nodded.
She declined his offer, and Kaertok drifted off into a light sleep, keenly aware that being out on his own required attention to his surroundings.
I'm Kaertok Tartok,he said, inviting her to introduce herself if she wished to do so. In the meantime, he began circling around, trying to find just the right spot to settle in. Once he was satisfied, he let his legs crumple beneath him. He would welcome the company if she wanted to give it, but he wasn't about to try and force her to help him keep warm tonight.
