Nyx had not strayed from the sound since her arrival in December. It was rare for her to stay in any one place for so long - even as a member of Winterheart and Ormarr, she would regularly travel beyond the borders and disappear for days or sometimes weeks if she found something worth straying for. She wasn't entirely sure what kept her tied to this particular territory: the threat of Drageda meant increased defense of their outskirts, and she had considered the strong possibility of rediscovering her pull to wander and not wanting to return. The last thing she wanted was for Ingram and Lycaon to believe she'd abandoned them.
The tension within Grimnismal following the altercation between her pack-mates was what drove her from the shore. The golden Ostrega sought some breathing space, exiting their forest at dawn to make her way further inland. She found herself trailing along a fresh deer trail, where a herd had passed through the Barrow Fields sometime in the night. Nose to the ground, Nyx followed their cloven prints through the snow. She was in no position to fell one and get it safely back to the coast by herself, but knowing the location of suitable prey was valuable. She fancied someday spiriting a few of her comrades away to hunt as a group. It could break the ice, perhaps, and begin mending fractured bonds.

Down on the frigid beach three days ago, Coast had sacked a plump seal. He would spend the next two days lounging about his kill like a fat manatee, keeping away all company but the gulls, and sleeping to their screeching anthems beset by the thunderous base produced by the incorrigible waves crashing nearby. Once he and the birds had picked the corpse clean, he left the mariner bones to be lost to the sand and began to move inland in order to find proper shelter for the time being.
He seemed only to find more flatland the longer he walked; irritation beginning to creep into his consciousness before he discovered the recent trail of another wolf. Eagerly, the pallid harrier angled himself after the scent, intent on expending some pent-up energy in his well-fed mood.
Upon spying his target, he decided not to antagonize her if he could help it. An injury suffered by this one could cripple him, and as a lone wolf in his prime, he knew the last thing he wanted was to mess up his pretty smug or his ability to survive and provide. What self-respecting she-wolf would want him and his stock then? He held back many wolflengths, tail swaying and ears pressed forward with interest as he made to announce his presence with a low, water-testing chuff.

"a fat manatee" xD
She paused, ducking her muzzle to examine fresh droppings with intrique. Scrutinising the crap with a furrowed brow, her yellow eyes roamed over it as she reached out to sniff it in attempt to decipher when the herd might have passed through. While it seemed fresh, it wasn't fresh fresh. They were an hour or so ahead of her, probably rummaging somewhere across the distant river.
As she prepared to move off, the voice of another broke her focus. Sable ears erect and eyes wide with surprise, the agouti Ostrega turned her proud crown to settle her gaze on the rangy form of a pale stranger. She blinked at him as he stared right back, seemingly trying to nab her attention, and remained entirely silent. What do you want? Nyx' expression seemed to say, and curiosity grounded her as she waited to see how he wished to progress.
When the stranger did not respond, the tawny Ostrega huffed an irritated sigh and turned away to resume her tracking.
