perferably for someone issun hasn’t met yet!
the rising temperatures, though slight, and clear blue skies were the first signs that summer had begun. it was the best time of year. prey should be giving birth right about now, meaning the food supply would be more plentiful.
that afternoon, issun sat just outside the pack entrance. he knew there had to be a herd out there somewhere and he was tempted to wander out and search but he figured it could wait a day. maybe someone would be able to accompany him tomorrow. for now, he enjoyed the warmth of the sun.

At least once a day, each of @Laurel's pups got a little one-on-one time in the form of a walk with their mother. The other two remained behind under the watchful eye of Indra during these outings. They were never very long, but they represented an immense journey to the imaginative young boy who bounced along at her heels. The little hill from the den was a mountain housing a fire-breathing leviathan that they had to vanquish, and when they were successful then they strode back into a little village, made up of his siblings and the permanent visitors and ma and Indra, to celebrate. Lucas relived this adventure every day, each time they went on their walk.
Today was a little different. They went a little farther this time. Not quite to the territory's edge, but Laurel had taken her cubs further and pointed out the sole entrance to the packlands to first Wyatt, then Piper, and finally it was Lucas' turn. It came with a warning to never go there, which Lucas solemnly answered with his most serious rendition of, "yes, mama," while wiggling in place. His tail was whirring, letting out the excitement that was bottled in his chest. His paws couldn't stop moving of their own accord, carrying his over-large body in a little jig.
Because, you see, there was someone there. Dark-haired like Wyatt, but his paws were a funny colour. Before Lucas could catch himself, he sucked in a huge breath that puffed out his fat cheeks and shouted, "HI!" at Issun's backside.

Tag for reference and to explain why Lucas is way out here.

he was definitely not expecting any puppies to be roaming so far out here, so when he saw a pudgy pup approach he was surprised to say the least. his mother had to be somewhere nearby so everything was ok right? if not, then at least he was out here to watch the whelp.
his introduction took him off guard. how could something so small have such a big voice? “hey,” he returned with a smile “you on an adventure or something?”

The stranger looked an awful lot like Wyatt, but as he drew closer with Laurel at his heels, Lucas began to spot the differences. Well, actually, the only difference was how big he was. The finer details were lost in his world innocence; he hadn't yet developed the critical quality of most creatures when observing others, so the fainter markings may as well have not been there at all. In fact, Lucas could hardly tell the difference between Laurel's fur colour and Issun's; discernment on that level would come later, as he widened his social playing field.
"Hi!" he greeted again, tail beating against fat hocks as the pair stopped nearby. His ears were cocked to the sides as he glanced back at Laurel for cues, and she helpfully supplied, "We're just on a walk," for Issun's benefit. Lucas aimed his beaming grin back at his pack mate and echoed, "jussa-walk!" while his forepaws drummed excitedly against the earth. "You walk?" he followed up, expectant blue eyes hitching on the stranger's pale gaze.

wooooo 300th post!
he wondered if this was another one of reigi’s children. maybe she nearby. she had been absent for awhile, but he assumed it was because of kids. so he didn’t worry to much, for now at least.
someone else answered him, the mom he assumed. she definitely wasn’t reigi and he’d never never seen her before. “nah, just enjoying the sunlight.”

"'Joyin'?" Lucas asked, tossing a questioning look back to Laurel, who for the moment let the other wolf have the floor. His eyes flipped back up to Issun's speckled nose and he drummed his hind paws on the ground as he admitted, "I likes th' sun." It was warm, bright and wonderful, all things that contributed to Lucas' continued good mood. He was an easy pup to please with anything that made him feel good: dancing, eating, laying in the sun, the sound of rain. "You mee' Wyah?" he had to ask, since the man looked so much like his brother.
