All Welcome

The ruins of a forest rose out of a haze, the fog so thick that her first thought upon seeing the burned and blackened trees was, 'do they still burn?'

The further she went the more she expected to smell the heavy aroma of charcoal, however, the aroma of the distant sea was the strongest, netted between the trees. As she crept beyond a series of monolithic sequoias, she peered heavenward and saw that one was bracing the other; half of the suspended tree must have crumbled away, perhaps split and hit the dirt, because there was nothing left. Parvati was quick to remove herself from that position in case the earth gave a shudder, or the trees finally gave up to gravity.

But for all its ruin, there was a wild charm to the place. The density of bright new growth had overtaken much of the blackness. There were young trees clustered in the shadows of their fallen ancestors — two years old, maybe more, she could not be certain. Sections of gutted logs had been overrun by ferns, vines, brambles, and as Parvati investigated these clusters of life she could find no trace of smoke.

Ford had welcomed him among the ranks of Stormrift, seemingly having saw something in him that was worth taking a chance on. Despite the invitation and his acceptance, Viinturuth was reluctant to look upon the coast as his own. The bay was different from what he was used to. It did not have the cover of his previous territory, nor the freshness of Swiftcurrent Creek. If anything, the sea and Stavanger's share of beach made him feel so... vulnerable. Exposed. Perhaps even afraid.

He spent most of his time away from the shore, to the Southern and Easten outskirts of the two-toned Alpha's claim, and had not yet found the courage to seek out and forge bonds with new pack-mates. The reminder of his last failure to settle hung over him, bringing a reluctance to integrate should his parents find him once more and drive him further away.

Viinturuth ventured into the place he'd first met his new leader, finding some comfort among its broken trees and new growth. It was a land filled with sorrow, yet promise. He moved quietly through the hollowed sequoias, pausing only when his dark gaze fell upon a tawny figure that trailed through the mist just ahead. At once, he feared the slim frame might be that of his mother or brother, but this one did not carry their familiar crimson hues.

He exhaled softly and allowed himself to relax, assuming his pace in the stranger's direction with a curious sweep of his alabaster tail.

Sorry for lagging on this! I've been struggling with Parvati muse.

There was a shift in the wind; no, a breath. What she might've considered to be a soft breeze was really a sigh, and it came from very close behind her — so the woman paused and looked around. She immediately noticed a puff of fog coalesced among the trees, but that didn't seem right. It took a moment before she drummed up the will to investigate. As she doubled back along her course she came upon the giant in the woods; he was ghostly, but reminded her of her own people to some extent.

Parvati was immediately skeptical of him.
Hello, she called out to him, letting her voice carry her accent with it. Most of the time she hid it, not exactly desirous of any attention it might bring. One could never be too careful. Before he could reply she added, have I intruded? However, there was a smooth confidence in her voice, not an ounce of guilt even if she had crossed some invisible boundary
