Blackfeather Woods out of sight

*laughs maniatically*

It was good coming back to the darkness. For an entire month he'd felt like a moving target in the bright Breaclaw Valley, but here he could blend in with his surroundings.

He'd missed the constant cawing of the ravens and crows in the treetops, not too much their filth, but he'd missed their presence. And the gloomy feel about the forest felt like a dream, and he'd even started to doubt it was real until he came back to it.

All that was missing was mother. The queen of this palace. Meldresi. And it wasn't the same without her.

The pup had searched the den, even when Burke had told him she wasn't there. And when he finally convinved himself that she would be back soon he stopped looking, and went back to his secret place, to make sure everything was in place.

It was when he was inside the hole under the tree that he got the smell of blood coming from the outside. And then the voices. He'd thought that they had discovered him, that he was no longer safe, but when he stopped to listen more carefully he knew that they didn't know of his presence.

The teen stayed silent inside his den, listening to the sisters speak. These he hadn't met, but they sounded strange and yet familiar even without seeing them.
