The bear was no keen to relinquish his chance at a meal so easily. It fought back against the wolves' advances, menacing them with teeth and claw. Luke kept his distance, but took whatever chance was afforded him to dart in and lay another bite on the bear's hide. Mordecai took to its rear and delivered another blow. Unfortunately, he invoked the wrath of the bigger predator, and was now on the run from it. Luke took off in hot pursuit, biting at flank and heel in an effort to distract the bear from his alpha.
