She avoided his eyes, though his questions she could not. Somehow the conversation had redirected itself to her, though she had struggled to tear it away. There was no point lying, not to his face anyhow. Sighing she replied, "I am fine. Living, I suppose," It was more of a grumble than a clear answer but her mind was elsewhere than how she was feeling at that very moment in time. How she was feeling felt so small in comparison to everything else. It was as if her own mental state was simply forgotten over the last couple weeks. All of a sudden, the amount of stress came down upon her in a crash of fury. Syphoning out what really weight on her mind, she couldn't hold back her own thoughts from escaping her mouth. "Why must we be so complicated?" She turned to him. And the question was valid. Everything about them was a hesitant step and a touch and go. But why? What was so wrong? It was just frailty that kept them apart. Nervousness, the threat of rejection that haunted them. It was so much to put on the line but wasn't it worth it?
