It wasn't long before both Lasher and Lucani were excusing themselves. Peregrine's lips parted, ready to protest his (best) friend's departure, especially when he saw the tears at the corners of his eyes. The darker wolf pressed into the lingering touch, taking the time to kiss the corner of one of those damp eyes before placing a second on the other man's temple. "It's see you later," he murmured insistently, sliding backward with a small, cocky smirk and a tilt of his head.

Then they were gone and Peregrine was alone with Deirdre. "All right," he agreed readily, a little surprised but also sort of pleased to have her company. He turned and began to plod toward his very distant destination, licking his lips and glancing sideways at his escort. "I'm not sure how old you were when your mother left..." he said slowly, in case this was a sensitive subject, "but you remind me of her." It was intended as the highest of compliments and he hoped it was received that way.
