This is prob future-dated a few days.
Her mind churned as she retraced her steps, journeying back toward Drageda. Her heart weighed heavily in her chest as well. Yet when she finally reached the sound and came upon the tree, Wildfire felt her spirit lighten a smidgen. She stepped into the cavernous trunk, no trace of fear or trepidation within her as she ventured further inward. She didn't go deep before turning around three times and sinking to the wooden floor with a low, weary sigh.
She wanted to sleep, yet her mind wouldn't stop racing. She wasn't sure how Thuringwethil would react when she reappeared after disappearing like that. Wildfire wasn't sure how she would behave either. She supposed the saw the logic in the commander's argument now, yet the decision still stung her, as they hadn't discussed it or made it as a team. Furthermore, her parents' deaths still caused her to stop and weep at random and she wasn't sure she could stomach a confrontation of any kind right now.
Although she couldn't rest, Wildfire did not yet attempt to return home. When the evening waned into night, which then softened into sunrise, the nearly two-year-old slowly stood and stretched. She headed toward the opening of her little hideaway, tipping her smudged snout toward the pink sky to greet the day.
