Once-fearful eyes now shone mirthlessly. Even though his conversation would have been considered a success, Rannoch found his mind slowing due to fatigue. Perhaps it was the weight of the Alpha's words the slowed him. In the short time that they talked, Rannoch had not only been given a new rank but, he had also been given the information of what had happened in the time since he had fallen in the Glen. He couldn't help but wonder how this event would shape his future. Though the Vale's fate was considered briefly, as the former Alpha found himself pining more for his fire-eyed companion than his claim. Rannoch knew locating Liffey was of the utmost priority and he would do so as soon as he was better again. Even though most thoughts were hard for him to grasp, the idea of reuniting with her came naturally. 

Rannoch found himself distracted from his thoughts as Lyra moved to deposit a pile of dandelions before him and he was thankful for the momentary reprieve. Now that he was aware of the fact that he was no longer on the top of the totem pole, Rannoch dropped his gaze to rest on her chin as she inquired about his well-being. "I've been better," he decided slowly with a newfound ruggedness to his voice; a sensation that was still foreign to the Iota.
