He liked it here — or rather, he did, until this voice came screeching out of nowhere at him. The man was so taken aback by the vivacity of the voice - and the high pitch of it, which stung his ears in ways he couldn't express - that he staggered backwards as if struck. His tail shot up defiantly and his ears shifted forwards atop his skull. If anyone could've witnessed this, they'd have sworn he looked just like his father in that moment of haste and indecision.
Then he saw the culprit: a pale-coated rodent of some kind that looked like dinner. But Larus was still perplexed; how did this thing know how to talk to wolves? How was it still alive with this knowledge? His brows furrowed in a frown but he didn't ask such questions. Rather, he sank back on his haunches and watched the weird thing for a moment, then said,

Uh, sorry.He was apologizing a lot lately -- but wait, why was he apologizing to this little thing? Larus felt a little conflicted, and with a snort he threw an addendum on to his previous statement:
I mean, no, I'm not sorry. You're food and food doesn't talk. What are you?After this, he got back up and took a bold stride back to his position, looming over the pale creature, and then extended a paw to poke at it.
