The higher up this mountain Ioa went, the less she could breathe, but she’d never encountered a volcano before, so she didn’t know why. It didn’t matter. She’d left Bracken Sanctuary to die anyways. So if she suffocated up here, so be it. She had felt for some weeks that when the babies died, she should have died with them. Coming here had only delayed the inevitable. She was not happy, and she was not pulling her weight within her new pack. So she’d decided a day or two ago to just end it. Everyone would be happier this way, wouldn’t they? Alarian would not have to look after her anymore. And she’d get to see her siblings again soon, in the sweet embrace of death.

Soon, she had collapsed from breathing in the toxic volcanic air, and soon after that she’d fallen into a deep sleep. Some time later, her body was stiff with death, and that was the end of her.
