hm. he agrees with alarian (though for more selfish reasons, admittedly), and is happy enough to let it go. 

actually more interesting is the delayed realization that alarian is gay, like full gay, like -- well, like him. it's not as it he's never been around other gay wolves before, he had a boyfriend before the, you know, snow-filled death and all of that. but mato wasn't gay he was just... mato, and -- actually, he hasn't been around too many male wolves at all.

instead he laughs at alarian's dramatics, tilting his head. "i think i understand women better," he admits softly, offering a smile. "and i'd be pretty sad if you died, so, let's not do that."
