Amsu had climbed mountains before, but this was perhaps one of the fiercer ones. The ground was tough on his paw pads, littered with broken, jagged pieces of rock fallen from somewhere higher up. He avoided climbing this mountain, though he heart longed to reach the top of it. The Way of Light dictated that mountains were one the sacred places, for they were closer to the sun and moon than other land formations. Every mountain made him want to climb to the top of it and meditate in the light of the day or night. However, this wish was not always practical, like when the climb was deemed too dangerous or currently unnecessary. He had studied this mountain for some time before deciding that such a place was unsuited for his family, therefore there was no real reason to climb it lest he wished to commune with the Light. But it was foggy today—not a good day for communion. With a small sigh, he stood up from his rest and intended to move on.
