the night is young, and the golden mayfair is most dreadfully afflicted, crippled unimaginably by the deepest despair known to wolfkind — boredom. he snorts a little irritably against the ground, glancing up from where he's curled on the cold earth toward the dark cloud-dappled sky. the stars he so loves remain shrouded, and he remains restless. he glances back down, frustrated, and rises to his paws. brief movement catches his eye, and he whips his head around irritably only to find his own twitching tail.
his ears flush a little, folding against his crown as he takes in the sight. irritation surges through him again, fueled by the restless tingle in his bones, and he lunges for the offending appendage. his agitation melts away almost immediately as he snaps fruitlessly at the wispy end of his bronze-tipped tail, replaced by childlike elation at the unfamiliar game. he turns at a dizzying speed, growling under his breath intermittently as his jaws snap. it's fun in a way he hasn't allowed himself in a long time, if he doesn't think about how embarrassing it'd be to be caught chasing his own tail.
