The words echoed in his head, and Clay gulped at the lump that had lodged itself within his throat. "I..Uh" he didn't really know what to say. And any thought that lodged its way into his head fell on deaf ears. He stumbled on his words as he looked up at Valour. It was really the only thing he could manage.

He was glad that Valour was no longer showing his teeth, but the look in his eyes: pained and angry did little to calm Clay down. He felt on edge, and all the teen could do was continue to stare up at him with a complicated emotion.

Did he think of Valour as Vengeance? No. Probably not. But Nightwalkers was all the same. Anyone who stayed there was content, and no matter how much change went on, the land was still soiled with the blood of their kind. The pack was still founded on a hill of rotting flesh and bones.
