It hurt, everything had been so difficult. How could she have been so stupid, how could she have let herself travel in the condition she was in? She should have tried harder, moved more when she was still in the height of her pregnancy. That would have help, right, the make them stronger?
Her eyes had closed due to exhaustion and the overwhelming weight of sadness that had now clouded over her heart, tears continued to stream down her cheeks as she felt her mate's touch. She could not face him, look what she had done! His children were dead and it was all her fault, she did not think her husband would blame himself. It was true he had not been there when she needed him, but she was thinking he was having second thoughts. That he would rather be with Reiko rather than her, she could give him healthy children after all. What did give him, one healthy child and another on her way to the spirit world.
He touched her and she gave a tiny whimper before opening her eyes once more, her gaze watery with tears so she could not see him very well but his words were quite a welcoming sound from the silence. She nodded weakly as he spoke about how beautiful their only surviving child was, he had not looked and the two between her laws. No the pristine white little girl, not the brown nose marked boy. He had not stressed the weaker child that was already moving slower against her breast, only the largest one. What would they name him, had he gotten a chance to name any others? She knew his mother never had more than he and his sister.
"Have you thought of a name? I had girl names but they were of your mother and my mother.. why don't you name him.." In her tone was an apology, she wanted to give him more. She did not tell him that Reiko had already used Sumi's name but at least she could give him this one gift, a son with an name he chose.
