She was not an experienced wolf, her golden head and fluffy tail held high as she trotted through the brush. Her eyes were blue as the sea, and filled with an arrogance that many young wolves shared. She who was as fresh as the new weeds bouncing underneath her paws held no fear of the darkening forest around her, her steps were loud as they crunched down on twigs and dry leaves. The sun filtered not through the thick canopy of leaves above her.
Auriel was hunting. Or, she was supposed to be. Up until this point she had survived on No-Fur scraps, or carcasses wrestled from scavengers such as the dark birds that screamed at her in a hoarse tongue. Once she had even almost caught one, her leap into the sky mighty. Her teeth had just scraped it's feathers, and it flew up and up with a caw caw of anger. Yes, she had survived. But there were no No-Furs here, not even a whiff, and every carcass was guarded by some beast or another. Having spent much of her life in a wolf sanctuary, the she-wolf had no idea how to socialise with the wild wolves of this land. They were so different from her pack back at the sanctuary. They never fought over food there, since there was always so much of it. As she was thinking she heard movement in the bushes ahead, blue eyes full with murderous intent as a furry little nose poked it's way out of cover, nibbling at a few low-hanging berries.
The she-wolf dropped into an instinctual crouch, her tail raised far to high as she stalked towards the rabbit. It's ears perked up, their eyes met, two full of fear, two full of hunger. The silence broke as the underbrush bursted into life, Auriel sprinting after the small mammal as it zig-zagged here and there, trying to loose certian death. The rabbit could feel Auriel's breath hot on it's hind as it sped across the forest floor, not even sparing a look behind it as Auriel skidded out, her feet slipping from under her as she bumped into a tree. When she managed to pull to her feet the rabbit was gone. The she-wolf pulled her lips back, showing her fangs in a snarl of frustration.
