Haunt's brow furrowed thoughtfully as Arbiter relayed the news. She might've asked about the location of Sunspire, except it didn't matter if she wasn't going to stay there, did it? "Then where will you go?" she pressed.

But it seemed her mother wanted Vex to be present for this conversation. "Ah, sure," Haunt replied, wondering if Arbiter would share anything else as they made the trip. "I think he's at home," she added, meaning Sapphique, now wondering if Arbiter meant to try to get either one of them to join her efforts.

She didn't ask. Haunt turned and began picking her way through the foothills in the direction of the coastline. En route, she didn't want for Arbiter to speak, asking, "Did you know that—Kaertok had other children?" His name came out only haltingly, accompanied by a twist of her features. But then her expression cleared as her yellow eyes lingered inquisitively on her dam's face.
