Marston was not attached to the land.
(Dagur was attached to the survival.)
If The Big Man said run to the end of the world, but kept his bully full and his coat warm, Marston would do it. That much would have been abundantly clear to any who watched how the boy became a fine shadow to the red-eyed leader.
Marston would take pride in the scattering of bones, of covering up just how long they had been here. Any scraps anybody hadn't bothered to take with would be promptly devoured by the boy. A price, he told himself, for the work he was doing here.
Then it'd be time to catch up proper. Trudging through the waters and the lands. On the move again. It didn't feel so bad.
