The call came clearly; but its meaning was not immediately known to the guardian, who traipsed along the borders at a slow, careful pace. It made her tail curl, and her lips quiver. She pushed her whiskers forward indignantly, and huffed. She changed her course, and made for the area she'd learned to avoid- she'd been unwilling to cross paths with the married couple while they were together, but considering the fact that Lestan announced his departure to the whole pack, she felt she wouldn't be intruding. She'd take advantage of his absence in an instant, especially when it seemed like something might be wrong.
Had he discussed his intentions with @Reverie? She did not have a right to know, but she yearned for an explanation nonetheless- keen, perhaps, to build up her armory against the man. Stiff-legged, she cut a course through the pack's territory, splashing through the creek where the current was low and the banks firm. Still dripping, she found her way to the place Reverie and Lestan had claimed, only to find the woman quietly succumbed to sorrow.
For a moment, she considered leaving her for the afternoon- to hunt Lestan down, and demand he return to his wife- but that would expose everything, if she did. And if he obeyed her, he might appease his saddened wife, and she wouldn't give him that grace, either.
She finally shook the water out of her pelt, and then approached Reverie quietly, and lay at her side.
