As the sun dipped below the horizon, Matteo lay exhausted on the old badger pelt he had grown fond of. It was times like these where he felt intensely grateful for Raiyuk and his family for providing him with somewhere warm to sleep and recover, especially after the hunt and journey home had sapped nearly all his energy.
Despite the discomfort, he welcomed the burn of his muscles for he knew it was a sign he was growing stronger by the day. And with it grew his confidence too.
No matter which way he tossed and turned, however, he could not ignore the dull pain that hugged his hip, slipping out of the lodge to find comfort on the fresh ocean air. It was then that he spotted a familiar figure watching the waves, curiosity drawing him to her side. "Hey, Heph," he greeted quietly. "How are you holding up?" He hadn't had much of a chance to check in with her after her accident, but it was good to see her up and about.
