Talis probably reeked of @Moonshadow and her estrus, though he scarcely thought about that as he picked his way through The Heartwood, then Firefly Glen.

Talis felt like he’d walked into a wall when Kusuma’s parfum hit his nose. He stopped in his tracks, wondering what she was doing here. He thought about making a run for it again, though his pale brow furrowed. Was Sialuk nearby too or was Kusuma out here by herself, totally vulnerable?
