OFF-BOARD
Kusuma was born in Indonesia to a jackal and a coyote, both imports from other sources. She is the result of a small community of canid hybrid enthusiasts trying new pairings and backed by likeminded canine behaviorists in the hopes of documenting jackal/coyote hybrid behavior in a zoo-like setting. She was raised by hand and during childhood was completely dependent on and tolerated people.

Sometime during her adolescence, the group studying her litter got into contact with wolfdog enthusiasts in the United States, and agreed to offer Kusuma and a brother to start differing lines and trying to create a new breed of hunting dog with coyote and jackal blood to tolerate hotter temperatures better but keeping the nature of the canids that would found the line through careful breeding. They were paid handsomely for their contribution.

The were darted, sedated, and shipped off to the Americas upon reaching maturity several months later. However, this is where the sibling duo parted ways. Kusuma broke from her sedation during a layover in Texas and through many trials, managed to break free from her carrier and escape the airport. Confused, and hungry, she said goodbye to her brother and ran off into the wilderness.

Kusuma's wandering led her to a pack of coywolves, who let her stay with them for months and taught her the ways of the wild and more importantly, how to speak the common language of this new world. There was a particularly pretty she-coywolf whom she got along very well with, and she was sad to part from her when the wind took her journey away from her lover and to the Teekon Wilds.
