A low growl hummed in his chest, more satisfaction than fury, as he watched the retreating figure disappear into the dunes.

Turning back, Samir’s golden eyes swept over Arslan, sharp and assessing. The lion’s deliberate softness, the careful flutter of lashes—it was all so predictable, so practiced.

And yet, it amused Samir endlessly.

His smirk returned, faint but sharp, cutting through the tension like a blade.

"Your little snake runs quickly," he remarked, stepping closer to Arslan, his tone laced with mockery. "A shame he lacked the courage to stay and finish what he started."

"No matter," he added smoothly, stepping back with a flick of his tail. His eyes shone quietly over his mate. His toy. He chose to ignore the sick entwinement of his scent with the fleeing strangers.

It would serve as good leverage.
