having never known the world beyond the silence towhee existed in cannot fathom what it may be like, in the rare instances she thinks of it at all. mostly, it was when she was around wolves that did not communicate in ptero that it was pushed more into her perspective. she struggles to fathom what things sound like, the noises ghost makes or how the voices of her companions sound.

her other senses were not quiet, though. she has learned to read the scents the air, to feel disturbances in the earth and air, to read with her eyes and trust her own intuition with a sharp keenness.

she thinks of these things as she studies their path, gaze moving to him after he looks away from her: finding it hard to yearn for something she's never had.
