towhee cannot help her proud smile as he responds in ptero, movements endearingly clumsy but fantastic progress. tvar is a fast learner. to think! towhee once had coveted ptero close to her, not willing to share it with anyone beyond those who already knew it. but she'd been young and foolish and incredibly hostile to anyone who wasn't her family.

maturity and her brief time as a leader taught her much ( thankfully ).

the soft tilt of her head conveys her unsigned praise for his progress. -you learn quick.- she signs, a soft coyness to her movements.

it gave towhee something akin to whiplash — how quickly she had felt comfortable — how safe — in tvar's presence ... and beneath that how she yearned for it still even though her season has passed with all the exhaustion left in the wake of a hurricane.

she looks away from his face then to the beaver, stepping forward with a nod of her head in answer to take a bite of the woodland creature's flesh. it's warm and delicious and her hunger is fierce. she thinks nothing amiss with this increased appetite as of late: only that it must be her body attempting to re-adjust to normal levels of hormones.

she takes another bite, and invites him to join her in enjoying the meal.

she chews as she contemplates his question and steps back so he can see her paws clearly. -well ... always a little hungry as of late.- she signs with a soft, breathy laugh.
