ghost joins them, eventually, stealing bird-sized bites of the beaver; displaying a trust in tvar that mirrors towhee's own. this does not fall beneath the amazon's notice. she watches ghost take flight to a tree where he perches to preen. her gaze falls back to tvar where it rests. she points to ghost where he perches and then brings her paw back down to the ground, sweeping it across the snow to sign his name.

her avian friend had given her a wide berth during her season — and after she'd snapped at him, she couldn't blame him. she was only glad that her feathered companion had forgiven her for her aggression towards him.

and ... distracted, even when the fires of her season had ended ... she'd never thought to introduce the falcon formally to tvar.

she goes for another bite only to recoil from the carcass as a wave of nausea washes over her. it is brief but it is enough to turn her stomach and make her decide firmly that she is finished eating despite that she's still hungry.
