Those words cut deep. They had missed each other; but was it the same? Agana couldn’t be sure. That familiar ache returned, the same sharp pain that had seized her the night they kissed. Shame curled in her chest, her gaze falling to the ground, unable to meet the duck’s jade stone gaze.

They had both suffered since that night. But why? She had been the one to take that step, to reach out first. And yet, here they were, caught in the weight of it all. Her voice barely above a whisper, she breathed a teary „Yes,” her lower jaw trembling.
And then it struck her; just like before.

She would be the one to take that step again.

Agana moved forward, closing the distance between them in a tentative embrace, uncertain if she would be welcomed. But she needed this. Long ago, they had shared a den, shared fleeting moments etched into her memory like carvings in stone. Her paw found the moonwoman’s, and the touch sent a shiver down her spine. She did not speak; there was no need. Kukutux would understand. Her body said what her lips could not.
