He wished @Etienne was here. Odessia had banished him from the den, which Cambria understood… but it didn’t make it any easier to wait out here all by himself. He fidgeted. He paced. He fought against an insidious urge to run for the hills before he ever set eyes on his offspring. Because that would be the point of no return.

“Want to come meet them?”

The Dragonling froze. No. No, he didn’t want to meet them. His heart pounded and his stomach rolled. How had he gotten here? Why had he let himself be lured into this trap? He had so much now—a mate, children—so much to lose. And it was only a matter of time before he did.

Small cries wafted out of the den. Cambria shuffled toward its mouth despite himself, feeling strangely disembodied. It took his eyes a moment to adjust but then he was gazing at Odessia and the two pale bodies bundled at her breast.

The new father stared for several moments, something new welling up inside him… and ejecting itself with violent force. Cambria simultaneously burst into tears, shat himself and vomited.
