He had been dreading this day, though he felt a little better with @Etienne and even @Catamaran to stand guard as Cambria and @Odessia finally moved @Victoria and @Sophia to a rendezvous site. It was only a quarter mile away from the whelping den, situated among a mix of evergreens and deciduous trees, the leaves on the latter a riot of colors as autumn really settled into the wilderness. There was a small creek nearby, close enough to provide a soundtrack but far enough not to pose a constant risk to the pups.

After escorting them to the site, Cambria forced himself to sit off to one side and keep an eye on things. He couldn’t help but admire his mate’s sleek white pelt, such a stark contrast to the fall foliage. But Etienne was even prettier. The Dragonling felt like a bit of a cad thinking it, though it was the truth. He just hoped Dess wouldn’t catch him staring at the other man too much.

He tried to help himself by focusing most of his attention on his daughters. It wasn’t hard. The father’s face went soft as he beheld them, wondering what they made of their new home. Cambria imagined Vicky and Soph were both quite a bit more thrilled with this development than their ole overprotective father.
